Marilyn, the daughter of Regina (Blake) and Ephraim Mairose, was born in 1943 in Mitchell, SD and passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 after overcoming breast cancer before succumbing to blood cancer.
She was raised on a farm in Plankinton, SD, graduated from Plankinton High School and attended Mount Marty College.
Thereafter, Marilyn began working for NorthWestern Energy in Mitchell, SD. In 1965, she moved to Denver, CO and began working for the University of Colorado Medical Center.
Marilyn married Larry Scheinost on October 17, l970, in Plankinton and then moved to Fort Collins, CO. She began working for the State of Colorado Judicial Department as a District Court Clerk in 1971 and worked for District Judge Conrad Ball and District Judge William Dressel for over 28 years. She retired from the Combined Courts in 2005.
In 1981, Marilyn was blessed by the birth of her only child, Charles.
Marilyn enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, and golfing. She was also very devoted to the Catholic church, spending many hours volunteering and helping in a multitude of ways. Larry and Marilyn spent much of their free time using their camper and boat. They also spent time traveling throughout the US, Europe, and Mexico. They celebrated their 40th anniversary on a cruise through the Panama Canal.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ephraim and Regina Mairose, her brother Arthur, her grandparents, and her in-laws, Charles and Betty Scheinost.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Larry, of Fort Collins, CO, son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Lizzie Scheinost, Washington, DC; sister-in-law, Sarah Mairose; sister-in-law, Betsy Caulkins; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Mary Scheinost; numerous nieces and a nephew.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21 @ 11:00am at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish on 5450 S. Lemay Ave in Fort Collins with a Rosary service and Greeting preceding at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the Food Bank for Larimer County or Catholic Charities of Larimer County.
