David Thomas Burrows

April 26, 1944 ~ October 12, 2021 (age 77)

Having fought the good fight and surrounded by love and prayers, David Thomas Burrows finished the race, kept the faith and entered the gates of heaven on the evening of October 12, 2021. Dave was born on April 26, 1944 in Akron, OH to Samuel T. Burrows and Florence K. Burrows. He was greeted by two older brothers and his family later grew to include a younger brother and sister. As a youth, Dave sang in a boy’s choir and, after graduating from Madison High School, he began an apprenticeship in the tool and dye industry. It wasn’t long before Dave’s eye for design and precision was sought after, and he moved to Colorado Springs to begin his career as a tooling and design engineer with Hewlett Packard, where he remained until his retirement.

Dave held a deep faith in God which served as a constant light in his life, guiding his strength of character and his unwavering love of family. To his children and grandchildren, Dave was a mentor and role model whom they could look upon for advice, respect and aspire to be like. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, Dave was proud to have earned the rank of 32nd degree. Dave had a lifelong passion for golf and a genuine love for the outdoors. He enjoyed exploring the Colorado mountains on foot, by jeep and on skis, but his greatest sense of adventure played out on the golf course. Dave loved the challenge of the game and valued the camaraderie he shared with friends. Dave had a lighthearted sense of humor and enjoyed seeing those around him laugh. He was never the loudest in the room, but he was always the funniest. In retirement, Dave could often be found along the hiking trails in Rocky Mountain National Park where he enjoyed volunteering or in the aisles of ACE hardware, where he loved helping people solve problems in what he described as his retirement dream job.

Dave was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, brothers Ramsey Burrows and John Burrows, and brother-in-law Frank Grey. He leaves behind, to treasure his memory, his beloved wife Kathleen Burrows, stepchildren Mark Jackson (Michelle Jackson) and Laura Binger (Rhett Binger), grandchildren Meghan and Matthew Jackson and Amanda, Brooke, Landon, Logan and Kylie Binger, brother Doug Burrows (Kathy Burrows), sister Florence Grey, sisters-in-law Jo Burrows (Ramsey Burrows) and Tina Burrows-Schaffer (John Burrows) and many loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Ave, Fort Collins, CO. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (
