Buddy "Bud" Max Anderson

September 23, 1935 ~ July 31, 2021 (age 85)

Obituary

Buddy Max (Bud) Anderson of Windsor, CO, departed this world on July 31, 2021.  He was 85 years old.

Born September 23, 1935, Bud was one of eight children.  He was raised on a farm in southwest Missouri, and never knew the meaning of lazy.  His family didn’t have much in the way of material things, but the children were taught the most important values such as love, family, faith, respect, kindness, and service to others.  He was a hard worker his entire life and made frequent use of his skill, ingenuity, muscle, and grit.

Bud attended the University of Missouri, graduating in 1958 with a B.S. in agriculture.  He served 2 years in the Army and National Guard, before a job opportunity with Forney Industries, took him to the front range of Colorado.  He made his home in Fort Collins with wife Marilyn and four children.  Bud worked for Forney for 45 years, serving as a laborer, salesman, traffic manager, and office manager before retiring in 2002.

Always a baseball player and fan, Bud took part in the game in many ways through the years.  He was a devoted St Louis Cardinals fan all his life, and later a Rockies fan and season ticket holder.  In the late 50’s and early 60’s, he was involved in the Fort Collins Youth Baseball Club as a coach, umpire, advisor, and volunteer, and he played in adult leagues for the Greeley Grays and several Fort Collins teams.  He continued playing ball well into his senior years and was active in organizing, coaching, and playing in the Fort Collins’ Annual Old Timer’s softball game.

Bud was a devoted husband and father, and fully supported his family’s numerous activities.  He was frequently seen in the stands at track meets, football, basketball and baseball games, tennis matches, and swim meets, still in his suit and tie.  He loved fishing, and traveling with Marilyn, and visited coast to coast in the U.S., traveled to several foreign countries, went camping in the Rockies, and regularly returned to his boyhood home in Anderson, Missouri.

Bud loved to fish, visit, tell stories, and laugh.  He never met a stranger, and had many, many wonderful friends.  He was proud of his roots, his family, and his work ethic.

Survivors include wife, Marilyn, children James (Leslie), Jeffrey (LeAnn), Jennifer Browning (Craig), Joni (John); grandchildren Nicholas (Chelsey), Jamie, Emily, Sean, Madison, Samuel (Emily), Autumn, and Angelina; and great grandchildren Richard, Emma, Kori, Gemma, and another due in August; sister Connie Coonrod and brother Paul Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Orville Richard and Jessie Mae, brothers Ted, Jerry and Jesse Richard (JR), and sisters Helen Stephens and Patsy Hackney.
